3/4 DROP
I am lookin to drop my truck 3/4. I found several kits some only using coils up front and others that have new control arms. Which is better and is the cost worth it? Is alinement on a coil only system harder or not as accurate?? Please help!
Well I dont know if the alignment for a coil drop is any harder than an A-arm drop, but the final alignment on my truck after the front coil drop with rims and tires I needed the new camber kit. As for which is better, I know of someone that origionaly had the front A-arms to drop his truck and removed them for to install the coils. He told me that he perfers the coils to the A-arms beacuse some aftermarket A-arms (like his) don't have all the needed equipment like bumpstops and mounting holes for the brake line bracket.
I'd love to do a 3/4 drop. But concerned about front tire and wheel clearance on a new supercrew. Have to keep stock wheels & tires for now. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Would love to see some pics of 2/4 or 3/4 drops.
thanks

I have a 01 f150 reg cag that I put a lightning bumper on. I purchased a chassis tech 3/4 drop. Has anyone had experience with where this puts you at in terms of clearance? If you have done this, does your bumper scrape very often, how careful do you have to be driving. Any info would be great. Also are there any things that need to be done to instal the kit like shimming the rear end or installing a camber kit (what exactly is this?). Lastly any info on installing the 87-93 mustang lights by hella on the 01 lightning bumper cover would be great. Thanks in advance.

Tokstad,
On the front end clearance you will need to be a little careful. With my 3/4 drop I scrape my air dam every now and then, but I think that is beacuse I still take some bumps and dips like I still had a stock suspension. So if you do go ahead and drop just watch out for the bumps, dips, and driveways and you should be ok. And as for the shim kit and camber kit you will probably need both. The shim kit is for the pinion alignment of your rear end after it is dropped so that your rear does not vibrate itself to death. The camber kit is a new set of camber washers and bolts I think, they usualy are installed when the front alignment of a veichel cannot be done with the factory camber bolts. The camber kit allows for more adjustment that the factory bolts.

I've had a 2/4 drop in Michigan for about a year now. I have factory 17" wheels with BFG 275/60/17s and I've never had any clearance problems (with snow or tires). The only place I can't go now that I could before the drop is over curbs, the step bars tend to drag. I'll be able to remove the bars in a year or so when the 2 year old grandson grows a bit more. I'll have to pick a good picture of mine and show it off.
