Question Need some suspension lifting advice...

Hi my helpful F150 owning brothers and sisters
I'm about to lift my truck, a two wheel drive 2001 F150 supercab, and was told by several places a six inch lift with my 35" TSLs would work fine.
Now I'm being told by another place, as well as reading another post in this message board that the 35s will rub the inner tire well because there just isnt enough clearance with a six inch suspension lift... ... and that I'll need an ADDITIONAL 3 inches of body lift to achieve the lift I want.
I use to have a 4x4 dodge ram 1500 with a four inch lift and 35s...never had a problem. Does anyone have any advice for me to avoid this extra lift?? Thanks alot!!!!

I fit 33" on my 93' F-150 by only moving them bumper forward with spacers 2". I also installed a Rancho 4" lift later that gave me even more clearance. I think I could easily fit 35" under the wheel wells. The only problem may come under heavy compression they may bottom out. Just make sure your bump stops are located correctly.

I didn't think there would be any problems either. I've always been meticulous at re-gearing my trucks after they've been lifted and making sure everything fits just the way it should. I can't seem to find anyone else with a 2001 F150 4x2 who has that size lift with 35s to compare it to.

What year is your truck, BlownF150? I'm starting to think it's because 2001 might be a little different. Also, is yours a 4x4? Mine's a simple 4x2...*sigh*.
By the way, nice email signature...LOL!

Red face

Even today I saw an F150 that was at least a 2000, same thing, 2wd with a 6 inch and three inch combo... 35 bfg a/t's and it was BARELY missing the fender well. What about when you turn your wheel on quick turns? no rubbing at all? And do you still have the stock bumper on the front of it? Or is it shaved around the edges of the fender?

I totally dig the signature... hopefully they won't make you take it off... it's nice to know there is still humor in this world

By the way, Ryan, Great truck! Mine's dark blue - almost black. I got the American Eagle baja style rims. Look almost like yours... very nice.

PG shaved about 1" off the bottom corners of the bumper on each side..the plastic stuff if you want the technical term. Never rubs.

Thanks for the props and good luck w/ your truck!

Ryan

Hey Blownf150, what is that bar that looks like a torsion bar trailing from under the front of your truck? I've never seen that on a 2wd. Who makes that?

They are strut braces. They run from the subframe to a cross member. Basically they help strengthen and stiffen the suspension.
