How much lift do I need?

Ok, I have a 1999 F-150 Lariat w/ ORP that currently has 305/70/16's on it with no mods needed. I am Wanting to go with either a set of 35 or 37 inch BFG's. If I go with the 35's I plan on getting a 4" suspension lift. My question is what is the minimum lift needed to fit the 37's? There is another post that showed a similar truck with just a 4 inch lift running the 37 inch tires. Is this possible? And I have no problem with trimming if necessary.

Thanks in advance everyone

I have no idea how they fit 37's on w/ just 4" of lift. I guess if you take off the valance(however you spell it) under the bumper you might be able to fit them, but every bump you go over, your tires would stuff...maybe not. My friend has 5" suspension, 3" body, and 1.5" torsion bar w/ 38.5" Swampers. So i'd say if you got the 4" suspension + 3" Body 37's would clear w/ minor trimming. Just MY opinion from MY experience.

I have a friend with 39s on his 150 and he has a 4" rancho + 3" body. He has very minor rubbing problems only when he's offroad. If you are going with 37x12.5 BFG's than 7" of lift should show no problems because the tires are not very wide. Fox's friend's swampers are probably at least 14.5" wide which is probably why his fit is so close. My friend has 15.5" wide tires and he has rare problems...so i'd say go with the 37s and 7", you'll be fine...HOWEVER...you will most likely need to regear for 37s which is not mandatory for 35s. For a 4x4, your looking at over a grand for that alone. Anywayz, good luck...

Thanks for the info guys..A 7 inch lift was pretty much what I was expecting to make this work with the 37's.. And I definitely plan on switching to 4.56 gears with this setup. So my next question is should I go with a suspension only or look into a combo like 4 inch suspension with 3 inch body or 5 inch suspension 2 inch body? Lets here some sugestions.

Thanks

Jon
