Shocks, how to on a 2002 Screw

Going to change out the shocks this weekend on a 2002 Screw 4x4.

Can I just unbolt the old and bolt up the new?

Does the truck have to be jacked up off the ground?

Peace

You got it...Unbolt the old and bolt in the new. Easiest mod you can do. If you got the tools and the know-how, probably as easy as an oil change. My dad had a shock go bad on the front of his so we just ordered two so they'd be equally new and, no exaggeration, it took us literally 20-25 minutes to change out both. You don't need a jack for anything and you don't need to remove the tires unless you want to do the extra work for the extra room. Shocks do not support any weight of the truck so no need for jacks or jackstands or anything like that.

BTW, what shocks did you get???

Galaxy,

Went with the Edelbrock IAS.

Finished the job in about a 6 pack. As suggested the only minor issue was the drivers side rear top 18mm bolt. I could only turn the rachet about 2 clicks at a time. Wasn't hard, just took along time to get it off.

Tks for all the info.

Peace

Anytime. Yea, guess I could have warned you about that one. My bad. Good choice of shock too. That's what I got and love them.

I second the motion on the Edelbrocks! Great shocks so far (only installed them last week) IMO.

Just 7000 miles...best mod I've done to date. Got a ride in a friends who did his and was amazed at the difference. Got out and went straight to the store for some new units...

Peace
