Talking Give me the green light...

I'm about to begin lifting my truck. It's a '97 2wd and I'm about to put on a Fabtech 3" Spindle lift and 3" PA body lift with 35-12.50-16 Procomp AT's on American Racing Baja 16x8's. Will this set-up work perfectly? Lemme know if this is perfect and if not, what's wrong with it? Thanks a lot guys.

Not enough lift for those 35's without
MAJOR trimming.

hmmm.... so even if I don't plan on offroading and I will have 8" wide rims, they still won't fit? I'm not planning on offroading, so I don't need the travel, I just want them to fit. Thanks for the help.

Since yours is 8" rims your 35's will be a hair taller than mine. Mine rubbed on turns behind the wheel well even after everything. You can do it but I'd be prepared with the coil spacer from autozone

Ok, thanks. Why is it that with the RCD 6" lift, people have no trouble fitting 35's(like BlownF-150), and yet they will barely fit with a spindle/body set-up?

So if I go ahead and do this what exactly am I going to have to trim, because I don't want to hack pieces of the sheetmetal out of my truck.

But don't you have the older fabtech spindles? The newer ones kick out the tires farther...and then you might be able to play around with back spacing. Its hard to believe that .5 inches (fabtech ultimate) would make the difference.

The wheel well has a plastic guard or liner in it. If you take that out and look behind the wheel you'll see a verticle weld and at the bottom of that you'll see some metal coming out under the cab. We made a horizontal cut on that weld and just folded it back flush. Then at the bottom we rounded off the piece sticking out under the cab. No Support pieces were compromised. SO when the tire DID rub it was only rubbing the plastic liner and no metal.

I think ilmagill is right.. the newer spindles do widen the front track width almost 3 inches. Wouldn't this give adequate clearance for the 35s?

Like I stated, I Can ONLY speak for my own experiences. If Fabtech changed something then I have no experience on that product. I clearly stated that I could only speak from my own problems and what not.

Cool

Are you sure? I thought this was the same height of lift as the RCD 6" lift or the Fabtech 6.5" lift and you can fit 35's just fine with either of them. BlownF-150 has the RCD 6" and he has plenty of room with 35's. Lemme know though cause I don't want to buy all this and somethjing not be right.

Like anyone else I can only speak from experiance. I had the Fabtech Spindles. And I was thinking the same as you. I ordered the 3" PA Body lift and 1200.00 worth of 35" BFG All terrains. Well 18 hours of cussin later they wouldn't fit. We had to use coil spacers and I still ended up trimming a little metal behind the wheel inside the wheel well. ( Not Seen From Outside ) I also had to add another block to the rear so it sat level after the coil spacer. The ONLY difference between your setup and mine is that I used 16.5x9.75" rims on 35x12.5x16.5's BFG's

This is a Pic Right after I finished. Remember, This is WITH the spacer and Body lift and spindle and blocks in the rear.
