Torsion Bar Question

I have a 98 f150 4x4 off-road package. If I raise the torsion bars up would anything real bad happen?

from what I have read here, you can get an inch or two, but that's it, and you need to get it re-aligned afterwards. It may also increase wear on your front CV's.
