Cool 3" body lift - Thanks

I have been monitoring the discussion board for sometime wondering if I should go with a 3" body lift or not. I want to thank everyone for posting out here and answering some of my previous questions. Just this last weekend me and 2 other guys spent about 15hrs putting on a 3" body lift. It was not to bad to install and I love the way it looks. I have 285/75 R16's mounted on the factory rims and it looks really cool on my '97 F-150 4x4 XLT. If you want to see some pics send me an email and I can email them to you.

Thanks
Daniel

I have been thinking about getting one of the body lifts myself. It seemed to be a cheap mod to buy that really increases the looks of the truck. I also heard elsewhere that it took them 14hrs to install the lift. I just can not believe it takes that long. What is the hold up on these? Do you have to remove a lot of stuff to get the mounts in? I have already enlisted the help of a friend, should I get another? How did you raise the cab and bed (jacks or hoist)? Besides the kit is their anything else I should need ( longer brake lines, steering column, etc)?

Sylvania Cool Blue Bulbs, Ford logo hitch and license plate, tinted windows, blackouts front and rear(w/ford logos on front blackouts),ventvisors all around, painted logos on door sills and under hood, 55w backup lights, K&N Filter, custom 4x4 emblems, cup holder/LED mod, 99 F150 Triton V8 emblems, and much more to come

To do the lift you have to do the following things: lift carpet in all corners of cab, remove 4x4 shift lever, remove bumpers, remove bolts and modify fan shroud, loosen and remove bolts holding oil cooler, remove bolts holding shift cable to transmission, loosen cab and bed bolts, remove fuel filler lines, and I know there is something else I am missing. I used 1 floor jack under the center of the side of the cab and 1 bottle jack on the tire to lift the bed up. I have some pics that show the pickup half lifted if you want to see them send me an email directly at dregier@kscable.com. I also have a copy of the instructions I can email you. I would suggest planning for the whole weekend to do the lift and make sure to have at least 2-3 guys to do the project. Some of the things require 2 guys. I just did mine on Saturday and Sunday we finished up. So far I have not had to buy anythign else except for the lift kit.

Thank you for your response, . I can not afford a suspension lift right now but a body lift is cheap and looks good. To bad it a PITA to install. Wish we could use spindles like a 2wd and blocks in the back.
If you don't mind I would like to see your pics and the instructions would be a great to read also. Thank you again for your troubles.

I did not felt any PITA when installing mine but it is very time consuming. It is very common to find 14-16 hours times for installation. I did mine by myself in a weekend.

If anyone in here needs a set of instructions just let me know and I will send them right away via email.

Cool

Took me 18 hours to do mine by myself, but I took my time, stopped for meals, and followed the directions to the letter. Now that I have done mine, if I was to do another one, with 1 more person, I think we could probably cut it down to 12 hours or less. CJ, give me a holler when you get your lift.

Got em, Thanks

You guys are right nothing looks too hard (but nothing ever does until you actually do it), just time consuming. It has to be better than paying 400 install + kit that I was quoted Tues at Trailblazers.
