Thumbs up

Frod4ever,

Thanks for the warning, haha. That was the cheapest price i could find on the web. I'll let you know how they feel on my truck. Got alot of extra $hi+ on my truck so hopefully it will weigh the truck down some and make the shocks give in a little more.

Thanks,
Phil

Updated the truck pic on my website so it opens much faster 1.4MB to 57kb

S-76,

Not flaming or anything, but you got ripped on the install of your shocks. Changing shocks is one of the easiest repairs you can do. It took me about an hour and a half to install all four Rancho RSX's on my truck by myself. Did it on my garage floor using a floor jack and a pair of jack stands. Sounds like the shop you were using didn't have a clue. The top nut IS difficult to reach, but FAR from impossible. You could have easily done it yourself and used the 120 bones to buy some more toys for your baby.

I just ordered Rancho RSX for my SuperCrew and they charge $10 per shock if you want them to do the install.

Anybody have an opinion on the Edelbrock IAS shocks. I'm looking for a good road shock, less roll, better handling/cornering.

yep, I have Edelbrocks all around. They are great for reducing body roll and handling. My truck no longer "tilts" when hanging turns, and the bumps and potholes my truck used to "bang and jump" over, just bouce like a basketball

I highly recomend them!

The Edelbrock IAS and Rancho RSX are suppose to be very similar. I've heard only good things about both. The reason I went with the RSX (on order) is they were $80 cheaper than the IAS for a set of 4. Below are links to both.

One problem with that...Don't have a garage, nor stands. I pray to own property with one level patch.

Regardless of price paid, there was no way I could have done this. The shock that had to be cut was seized at the top nut. At any angle there was only about an inch of wrench travel. Two quys tried at the same time, one holding the wrench, the other holding the top part of the shock, keeping it from spinning. They tried "unscrewing" the shock aroung the nut as well. Out came the tourch....off in 10 seconds...

The mechanic was more than qualified to do the job...also did a very "careful", professional job. In this day and age of "hack and slash" "technicians", a true mechanic with his head screwed on, demands a higher premium.
Saved me the frustration and agrivation.
