My rear leaf springs on my '99 squeaked too! It was the round, teflon spacers between the leafs. They are located at the end of each leaf and they prevent metal to metal contact, whick causes the squeaking. When you order them, go ahead and order 2 or 3 packs. I can't remember, but I think about 6 in a pack, that way you have some handy for when the next time you need them. The easiest way to change them is to jack up the rear of vehicle to unload the leaf springs. Then I use the flat end of my lug wrench about 4 inches awway from end of leafs to pry them open about 1 inch (enough to insert spacer tab into hole) BE VERY CAREFUL! springs are still under alot of pressure! It would be wise to have a helper to insert spacer while you (or visa versa) held onto pry bar with BOTH hands. The spacer can be inserted with one hand and without fingers getting between leafs, if held with thumb and forefinger Needless to say, if fingers are between leaf srings and the pry bar slips!! OUTCH!!!!!
Hope this helps, it fixed my squeak and Lord knows I hate a squeaky truck!
