Unhappy Bone Shattering Ride

My '97 F-150 4.2L, Reg Cab, LB with 65,000 miles has a terribly rough suspension. The ride is so hard that when I'm on the Interstate at 65mph, if I start hitting rough road I feel like I could loose control. The truck bounces from side to side along the road.

The situation is that back in December I was hit by Geo Tracker at a 90 degree angle directly at the left front wheel. There was $9800.00 worth of parts and labor when I got it back in February. If the road is smooth it handles like new but when I start to hit bumps it's downright scary.

I'm hoping you can help me figure out what may be causing the bumpy ride.

Also; the problem seems to be only in the front end. The rear suspension is smooth. The tires only have 8,000 miles and the shocks have 4,000 miles.

Parts Replaced after accident:

>Left Upper Control Arm
>Left Lower Control Arm
>Steering Knuckle
>Left Front Shock Absorber
>Left Front Wheel,Tire
>Outer Tie Rod
>Inner Tie Rod
>Tie Rod Sleeve
>Alignment

The work order doesn't state if they parts are OEM or competitive, just that they are new parts. All work carries a warrenty through June 22, 2001.

Could there be a problem with the bushings or is something maybe too tight???

Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated greatly. My truck used to feel so smooth.

Thanks,
Adam

If the ride is that rough it sounds like you need new shocks.

Thumbs up

Can you say, "Hello Mr. Insuance man?" I'd tell them it's not finished yet and that it's hazardous to drive, if it really does feel that way.

I'd agree though, with a hit like that, you may never get it to feel like it did, but it should be right, and safe!

Thanks for the responses.

I started looking for a new truck on Tuesday. I've simply lost faith in this one.

I was changing the oil Tuesday morning when noticed that even though they listed a new left shock on the work order, I definately have they same one I put in there last fall. Made me wonder what else I may find if I keep looking. I also checked the tire presure and found that the right/front tire had 44psi.12psi above what it should. I suspect this is in response to my bringing the truck back 2 times to complain about it pulling to the right.

It should have been totaled.

I'll have a new truck and Insurance Co next month )

Thanks Again,
Adam
