Smoother ride.

Do you guys know which shocks would give my 01 SuperCrew a better ride? My wife complaints that it rides to much like a truck. Especially on freeways that are worn out by trucks.

Tell your wife " It IS a truck honey" therefore, it's going to ride like one.

P.S. I just put some Edlebrock IAS shocks all the way around on my 2001 Flareside and am very impressed with the way it smooths out all the rough road. Bought them last week at Central 4 wheel drive:

and they have free shipping on Edlebrock.

What are you comparing to? The long wheel base and big tires in themselves give a really nice ride.

Just curious...

For comparison, how does a standard Monroe gas shock compare to a higher quality (I assume) shock like Edlebrock, Ranchos, etc.

Thanks...Scott

You won't notice much of a difference with less expensive shocks like Monroe's, maybe a little improvement at first because there new, but what your getting is not much different that OEM equipment.

Some of the freeways in Southern California are worn out by the use of heavy trucks. Thus driving over them makes your head bounce. If you ride on a car, their shocks do a much better job. Sometimes hardly ever noticeable.

I heard that the Edelbrock and Bilstein are good choices.

Its being awhile since I last change a car shock. Their replacement still straight forward, right?

Thanks for your replies!

rkj...thanks for the response.

Then I should see a bigger improvement with Edelbrock, Rancho or Bilstein -vs- Monroe?

Would adjustable be preferable than non-adjustable?

Thumbs up

I went from Monroe Reflex to Rancho RS5000's, and never looked back. Unbelieveable ride difference. I also installed a 2wd steering stabilizer which really helped also. Not so much with the ride, but driveability is much better. No more steering wheel jerk on rough roads.,,,,98

Oops, didn't notice it was a 4x4, but still they improved the ride a bunch!
