Question softer torsion bar?

This might seem like a crazy notion for most you, but i was wondering if there is actually a softer riding torsion bar that i could install in my 97 f150 SC 4x4? the truck rides like a tank, but most of the roads around here are crappy. i use my 4x4 during hunting season, but i'm not in to hardcore offroading, such as stump jumping and rock climbing and stuff. mostly just mud from time to time. the truck has the offroad and towing package. it was equiped with 17" rims and 265 tires, but know if have 16' rims with 285 75 r16 BFGoodwrich A/T tires on it. the previous owner had turned the torsion bars up, but i've put them back to factory settings, and got an alignment. I'm really just looking for a littlbe bit of a smoother ride, and getting rid of the 4x4 is not an option. If there is a light duty shock that would help please let me know. thanks for all replies.

Ford does have some torsion bars with various spring rates but that will really not effect the ride it just lower the paylaod capacity. I would suggest that you look into some Edelbrock IAS Shocks fro your truck instead of what ever brand you are currently running. They are a little proicey but they will improve the ride quite a bit.

thanks for the info. my shocks are pretty much wore out. i was wondering if a good pair of shocks would give a smoother ride. my other f150 4x4 was a '96, no torsion bars, the I-beam front in gave a much smoother ride then what i have now, but probably more problems over the long run. i guess i'm gonna invest in some good shocks... i do love my truck...
