Anybody swapped out the "Rancho" FX4 shocks to an ORP truck? In the limited time we had to check we didn't see a problem with it but I am hoping someone has done it and can verify that. Thanks -

From what I understand, the FX4 shocks are the same as what is on the ORP trucks, only with the Rancho Brand name on them so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be a direct replacement. Good Luck.

From what I've read around here the "OEM Rancho" shocks aren't all that good. Basically a standard shock with a brand name on it to make it look good. I'd go get a set of Rancho's (5000,9000,RSX, etc) and not bother with the oem ones. Just my .02 though.

The Rancho shocks on the FX package trucks are just OEM shocks with paint and a colored boot. The Ford brochure even states this. The brochure calls them a "BRANDED" Rancho shock meaning it's all for looks and is still the same as a regular shock from a non FX package truck.
I would get a real set of Rancho's if you can. Not sure why you have or are going to swap a set. Maybe more details.

Yes, I've heard that the FX4 Rancho's aren't as good as the 5000, 9000, etc. The FX4 shocks are off of my truck and I was going to sell them to someone who's got a 2001 ORP truck. I just needed to make sure they would fit her truck. Thanks,

Mike

I just replaced the Ranchos on my 02 FX4 with Bilsteins (17,000 miles). What a difference. Haven't tried it off road yet, but it sure corners flatter. The ranchos are much weaker than the Bilsteins. I know the Ranchos have miles on them compared to the Bilsteins, but the control hasn't changed with them.
