97 Expedition shaking 65+ mph
Can someone help me and tell me what I should be looking for. My Expo shakes when I'm on the freeway! My passenger seat is shaking like crazy. Someone told me to check my rotors and air pressure. I'm going to take it in to a mechanic, but don't want to get taken to the bank! If it's the rotors what's a good price to fix? Or could it be something else? Please help!
A slight to moderate shimmy/shake at around 65mph is common for F150 vehicles of this generation. If this has been happening since new, you probably don't have any problem and needn't throw money down a hole. If it's just that now the passenger seat shakes more than usual, I'd first check to make sure the bolts are good and tight on the seat rails. A loose seat connection would cause a seat to shake more than normal.
That would be the best/cheapest solution. If it is the rotors, expect to pay around $200+ per axle just for parts on a 2WD (about $150+ for 4x4). I'm not sure what labor goes for since I do my own work. Probably at least $100 per axle. Usually, though, rotor problems are more evident when braking (though they can manifest at constant speed).
If you do have to replace the rotors, make sure you take it to a reputable shop and get new pads at the same time (another $50+ per axle). And be sure to properly break in your new rotors. You can search the "Brakes" forum for this.

Maybe check your tires to see if they are out of balance or low on air. Look under the truck for anything out of the ordinary. Id say rotors wouldnt make the truck shake like that. SUspension may be getting worn out due to age. They dont build stuff that lasts anymore.
It's more than likely the shocks, rotors, tires unbalanced, or a combination of all three. Once I replaced all 3 on my 93 thunderbird, it rode like a new car (I replaced them because they were all worn, not because I'm ****
).

I have gone thru the same thing with my truck. I put new shocks on and it helped a little but what i came to find is that the tire shop I was using was only doing a static balance on my wheels. I took it to another shop and they did a road variance test or otherwise known as a road force balance. they computer match each tire to match each rim for minimal vibration then make shure they do a dynamic balance where they put wieghts on the inside and outside of the rim to cancle shimmy. i got rid of 95% of my vibrations. The other 5% stayed because of the 2" shackles I have on the rear. they just make the truck ride a little rough. hope that helps?

I took mine in and they said it was just mud on the inside of the rim.
The next time I washed my truck after off roading, it happened again, so I took the tires off, and sure enough... the rim had a dried puddle of mud that forms from the runoff when I spray the wheel wells.
The vibration was just like you mentioned, that front passenger seat was going nuts!

02 screw, same thing here, seems to be happen between 60 and 70 after 70 it goes away had the tire balanced and mad no difference, 35K now and still don’t know what to do shocks? The dealer told me my tires are to aggressive, Dunlop Rover T/A’s I don’t see how that is aggressive, (no my choice of tires, bought the truck with them)
