Question Best lift for 02 FX4?

So if money was not a factor...

What is the best lift (suspension) for a 02 FX4. I have seen a few newer trucks that look cool, but a lot of them seem like people don't match tire size with lift. They have really crowded looking wheel wells. So for those that have good looking trucks what kind of lift and tire combos work? Say 4-6"s worth, don't want a Big Foot truck. I know there are tons of Mfg. of lift kits, but I have had a hard time finding ones for 02's.

That's a pretty open-ended question My guess is going to be that everyone (including me) is going to say they like the way their truck looks!

Anyway, I've got a Rancho 4" and 2" body lift. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably put a 3" body lift on there. I went with 2" because I was afraid 6" would make my 35s look like donuts (might have been a little wrong here...). No T-bar cranking, so I still have that as an option.

Really, anything listed from 97 and above should be good for the '02s. Good luck!

Mike

Cool looking truck, do you get any rubbing with it?

A little...some on the front valence...need to trim a little more. It will also get a little hairy if I hit a decent bump with the front wheels turned. I think you really need an inch or two more to clear 35s on most types of wheels. I may never have had a rubbing problem if I had gone with 8" wide wheels

Cool Best Lift

packager_jr,
The best lift you can get is a suspension lift if you can afford it. As for which manufacturer is the best, RCD is#1. Rancho, Fabtech, Superlift, and Skyjacker all are good, but I prefer Rancho over these, just a personal preference. The RCD system is very high quality and I would have it on my truck, but back in 1998/9, they didn't have a kit for my Expedition yet. With a 4-6 inch lift, you can fit 35s under the truck with very little front valence trimming. If you want to go bigger, I fit 36x14.50x16s with a 4 inch suspension plus a 3 inch body, plus heavy duty torsion bars. Absolutely no rubbing throughout the full range of motion for the tires.

We need to know the tire size you want, and how much mods you don't mind doing. I recommend RCD. you can check out my truck at the link in my signature. Good luck.

I put the rancho 4 inch on my 00 expy , but I switched the 9000 shocks to BILSTEINS way better shock and I was running 35s but droped to 33s because of trailer towing and loss of low end tourqe. To me 35s are too big if you really use the 4x4 at all .Rancho recomends the 33s wiith thier lift....... good luck..
