Will this work?

My 97 4X4 just recently developed the dreaded squeaky pitman arm. Since Ford failed to put a grease fitting on this thing and mine so desperately needs grease, I've come up with an idea and I want to know what you all think. So my plan is to put a very small hole in the rubber boot that covers the spot where grease would ordinarily go and then use a small grease gun to inject grease. After that, I was planning on sealing the hole I made with some type of silicone or gasket making type of sealer. My question is, do you think this will work? Anybody out there ever tried anything like this?
As always, I appreciate any feedback.

On another note, has Ford added more than two grease fittings to the newer trucks? I understand the idea of having sealed components that don't need grease, but this time around it obviously didn't work out. Just kind of curious - again, thanks for your comments.

Actually your idea has been done many times on this forum. No need to make a hole though. Just buy a needle for the grease gun and stick it through the boot. Pump it full of grease and seal it up. Good Luck.
