How much time??
How much time??
I have a 3 inch PA body lift in the mail right now and I'm trying to make plans to install it. How much time should I plan to be without this thing. I have 2 guys helping me. Only problem is we all work from about 4 to 10. Plan is right now start Friday night after work. Come back Saturday during the day. Then we have Sunday off. Everyone has told me that I should plan on having Monday morning as a run over. Anyone done this before and could give me advice would be great.
I would plan to have Monday as run over. Its always best to have plans for the unexpected. When we did the lift on mine we figured one good day would get it done. With 3 of us working on it (2 of us had a very high mechanical experience) it still took us almost 20hrs to get the thing done. Part of the problem is that we didn't have our tools with us so we dinked around for a few hrs with 3/8" drive ratchets until we were able to track down a 1/2" set. We had to cut out a few of the bolts and use the torch to get them out of the bushings. Basically theres things that can go wrong and take longer than expected.
I had one person helping me and it took us about 16 hours. Biggest part of the problem was I took off wrong part on the sterring shaft. I took off the connector that went into the sterring box instead of the one under the dash. It took 4 hours to get the darn thing back on.
Get some loose nut and soak all the body fasteners over night. Be prepaired for the owrse and you will come out ahead. If you can rent an air compressor and an air gun and ratchet. That tool will cut down on the wrenching. 3 of us installed a lift in about 6 hours. read the instructions carefully and make you have all the tools. When you are about to install the blocks loosen all the bolts on both sides then remove them on one side. Jack up that side and place the blocks under that side and start but do not tighten the bolts. Then go do the other side. A sturdy floor jack and some 2x4s or 2x6s stacked across the floor pan supports makes the jacking easier. We did the bed first and then the body. The front bolts were the hardest. We needed to cut one of the bolts off and drill it out.

I did mine alone and took me like 16-18hrs (saturday and sunday). But I did studied the instructions beforehand that week and on friday I took some measurements plus make sure all the tools were in place.
It was very time consuming and I still had to go out to get missing tools.
No beer. That speeds up the project while working safely.

Well I just finished installing it. Took us about 8 or 9 hours. Really not as bad as I had expected. There were 5 of us doing it plus several stopping buy trying to add in. We really didn't get anything done until it was just 4 of us though. I must say I was extremely glad we had air tools. Big help. All I have left is relocating my exhaust, fabbing a bracket for my bull bar, installing gap gaurds, and painting a little bit of metal now showing. Over all I'm happy with it. Definately doable. Oh yes, I do need to find a good price on new wheels. Looking for 16x10. I like the Eagle Alloy 058's. Just incase anyone could help me out.
I have some Eagle Alloy 589 with 33" All terrain Pro Comp. Less than 5,000 miles on them. 800.00 brentswanton@hotmail.com
