bump stops (front)

Quick question.

What are the options for replacing front pump stops. I need shorter ones since I lowered my ride with coil springs. I saw some at my local Pep Boys, but was not certain if these would be the best to get. Also...is this a simple one nut affair to remove the stock rubber one?

Did you just cut them installed using a small hacksaw or something similar? Or would it be easier to slice it in half with some sort of blade? Thanks for the input.

The bump stops are very easy to remove. Once you have them out, just use a hack saw and cut it down to size and reinstall.

Cool

No kidding, just one bolt in the center of the rubber on each side. Comes out easy. What was even easier was REPLACING them. Got a pair of urethanes at the local Pep Boys, that had the threads integrated into the bump stop ($7.99) and simply screwed them in by hand.

Thanks.

Talking MUCH BETTER

The stock bump stops were definitely meeting the lower arm during any jaunt out of the driveway. They weren't resting on the arms, but there may have been an inch of clearance, probably less. Now there is all sorts of room as the urethane stops are much flatter.

Ride is much improved!

ugh!

Darn, I almost kept the packaging in case this question arose, but I tossed it and probably the receipt too. I'll run back into Pep Boys and get that info posted soon!

Well, just did some quick research and I believe they are called "button" shaped. They resemble the shape of a giant thumb tack.

Gotcha. I think I know which ones they are. About 2-3" round and black?

Yes, and they come with a locking nut threaded in place within the packaging. Those just went into my parts bin, they were not necessary, although I imagine they could be used. Maybe I'll put them on tonight.
