Unhappy

I ask the same question back in the middle of December on two different boards. So far not one reply. Kind of strange for trucks supposedly built to work, toughest truck etc....Should I have bought a Chevy.

P.S. Here's what I had posted:

I am thinking of installing a 7 1/2' snowplow for personal use only on my 97 F150 supercab short box. Seems everywhere I turn I'm told that the front axle will not take it. The plows I'm looking at are in the 500 to 600lbs range. If any of you guys has done this please provide all information/experience good or bad especially what it has done to your ride height i.e. front end sag.

Now I would like to see pictures of plow installed on F150 97 or newer cause I can get some of a chevy in a snap.

Sorry guys I don't really know anything either. I don't think our trucks will handle a plow though. The 7700# series is built to handle that extra weight. I think it would take a beefier front suspension for it to work. Maybe you could get ahold of the guy in this link: https://www.f150online.com/owners/owners49.html

I've seen a lot of 97-up f150s with snow plows. All you have to do with the front suspension is crank the torsion bars all the way up and it will handle the extra weight.

Check the torque-rod part numbers for your truck vs the 7700 series -- and if different, the 7700's may give you the added lift/capacity, as the 7700 is the only F-150 series that Ford OK's use of a snow plow.

Cool

One of my previous co. trucks, a 1993 Ranger-short bed had Timbren load boosters on the rear. I could load the truck until gears were running off the sides. The little truck would only squat about 4 1/2". Oddly enough, this truck is at another co. location (which consists of chevy lovers): now the Ranger has approx. 350,000 miles with no major problems. The ranger has 2.3L & still hauls big loads frequent.

Go to Fisherplows.com. They have a great line of light duty plows that are ideal for the F150. It is an all steel blade that is 7.5 feet wide that will fit on the F150 no problem.

For the first time this weekend I saw a F150 ext-cab short box with off-road package with what seemed like a Myers poly-plow and an expedition with plow harness only. Unfortunately both trucks were heading in opposite direction from me and did not get a clear view or able to ask questions. Stopped by Myers dealer today he said that it depends on my front end on my F150 XL. Can any of you guys help me out here.

1) Is there such a thing as a heavy 1/2 as per salesman or strictly LD-F250?
2) Is the front end on Off-road package heavier duty or is it basically tires are bigger?

Any info appreciated

P.S. sorry for lenghty post (I will have plow on this thing by next fall no matter what)
