Question Bad shock symptoms??

I need some help identifying bad shocks. I have a slight tremble in the front passenger side that I can feel through the brake pedal. I know i have some slight rotor warpage (damn brakes) but there is a slight tremble in the front while driving. I know the wheels are balanced. Any ideas. I buddy said it could be the shocks. I have been ruff witht the suspension and have not replacede any of the oem shocks. BTY way my truck is a 97 4x4 ext cab. thanks in advance for any help. Oh and what replacement shocks would you recommend?

Could be shocks, how many miles are on your truck? I replaced the ones on my 4x2
at about 43,000,way overdue according to some. It rode a whole lot better after I did.
Some of the 4x4 guys are using Rancho
RS9000's and rave about them,,,,,98

could also be tie rods or idler arm too.

Do your shocks bounce many times when compressing and releasing them? How are the shocks bushings? Specially the top bushing. How many miles they have is critical and directly proportional to wear and tear.

For some reason I don't think the cause for the tremble is coming from the shocks.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to go ahead and replace the shocks. Long over due w/ 80,000 miles!
How difficult is it to replace the shocks myself? I remember changing out the Macstruts in my 88 mustang GT and that was a chore, of course I was many years younger.
Anyways I think I'll go with the Edelbrock IAS shocks.

Changing shocks is a pretty easy do it yourself job. Tools you will need that you might not have are a deep 18mm socket and an 18mm box end wrench. I was able to change the rears without jacking the truck up. On the fronts, I raised the truck up with a jack & stands, but did not have to lift the wheels off the ground. If you use the search function, you might be able to find more info. It is MUCH easier than doing MacPherson struts!

You will notice a huge improvement with the new shocks!
