Question Needs some help on a Noise

I have a noise when I hit the brakes that sounds like a wear indicator hitting the rotors. But only happens when I switch gears and then let off of the brake or it will happen when I have traveled like a block and hit the brakes. The noise is just one click one from both sides of the frontend. I have checked the center caps and had the tires rotated and it still does it. I don't hear the back ones do it. It sounds very similar to what a rock in the tire sounds like. This is very hard to describe and I have planned on taking it to the Ford place but I would like to know what it possibly could be before I take it. I would appreciate any help. THANKS :-)

Just a shot in the dark, have you checked your shock mounts? I had an older Trans Am that used to do the same thing. I had to replace the shocks. The rubber bushings were tightened down so much that they we not between the nuts & washers any longer. Just an idea. Could also be a front caliper issue, but you said it was both sides didn't you? Hmmm...let me know.
