Question Biggest lift for smallest $?

I've been thinking about lifting my truck so I started looking through some posts. I knew suspension lifts were pricey but I didn't know HOW pricey! $4-6K for parts and labor!? That's a good chunk of scratch. My truck has a good stance to it now with the 305's I'm running but it needs something more. I just want a couple more inches so how do I go about it? A 3" body lift is in my price range but will I be happy with it? What are the pro's and con's? Any suggestions?

If you can custom fabricate a body lift of let's say more than 3" and be able to installed it yourself, that would the tallest lift with the lowest price. That's to answer the first question of the post

Now, we have to take in consideration that more than 3" in our trucks would expose too much of the frame and that may affect adversely esthetics for some. And you have to be sure that you are going to be able to fabricate all the neccessary parts to complete succesfully all the installation from different standpoints specially safety.

With that in mind I went with the Performance Accesories 3" Body Lift because I read it was a good and very complete system. I confirmed that upon arrival as I checked every single item included in it. I recommend it. I did the installation myself.

Do you want to check the installation instructions before going into it? I have those in file because we scanned them for other members of the boards. I can e-mail you the file if you are interested.

Doing the body lift is quite a journey. And this is just the begining of being taller.

JMTruck,
That would be great! My email address is onemilmhz@hotmail.com How much did the kit cost? JC Whitney has the 2" for $116.95 and the 3" for $123.95. Is this good? How much of the frame is exposed with the 3"? I definitely don't want to be able to see through under the bed like on some trucks I've seen. Would the two inch be a better way to go? BTW, your truck looks great!

JMTruck,

Hey, can I get a copy of those instructions? The 3" lift is my next major mod, but I think I'm gonna wait till spring next year. Thanks.

That's the one I got. $123.95 and free shipping from JCWhitney since there was a promotion going on at the time. If you were able to see my truck, then, there you will be able to see how much of the frame is exposed. Remember that I have the OEM running boards that helps to hide some of it. Your instructions are on its way. If you need more information I will be more than glad to help any way I can.

Check your e-mail for the instructions. Hope this helps.

Wow! There's alot more involved with a body lift then I realized. Thanks for the instructions. I'll have to read through them before deciding.

Yes, there's a lot of things to do. Maybe more than in a suspension lift. It is very time consuming. But if you are patient and mechanically inclined and of course have the necessary resources as tools and space, then you will be able to overcome all that.

I started on a saturday so I was going to have all weekend to finish the job and be able to hit the road on monday with no delays. That's our daily driver and my wife loves the taller look. We are going crazy waiting for the new tires.

JM Truck,
I would greatly appreciate a copy of those instructions, also. I am contemplating a body lift, and want to have some idea of what I'm getting myself into.

Thanks,
