Post Bottom leaf out of place

99 F150XLT SC
I am having the same problem as the 98's with my leaf being about 3/4" out of place on both sides. I do not see a bulletin on this for the 99's. I had this into the dealer and they just hammered them back in.( I could of done that) I called today and mentioned that there was an SB for this on the 98's and would the 99 be under this same bulletin, he said no. They only way they would check this out is if I removed my helper springs and then bring it in. Is any one else out there having this problem on the 99's?

Fith-Wheel,

Just take it to a spring shop. I had the same problem on a 97 reg cab long bed. The tsb did not cover my truck so I took it to AAA Spring in SLC and was charged $40 for a new spring clamps. 3 total, 2 on one side one to replace oem and one extra, and 1 extra on the other side.

They were done in 35-40 minutes.

Regards,

Sean

Ren,
Thanks, I contacted the dealer again because I did find the service bulletin covering this for the 1999 they told me they would take care of this.

JDm,
Ford Dealers know that this is NOT a regular service bulletin. Instead it is actually what they call a Broadcast Message. Ford would have it as one or two paragraphs in a document (possibly sent as a computer printout) entitled "Online Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) and
the number appearing to the left of the description you need is 6477 issued in June 1999.

This should help all those that have this problem with the 99's

I have a 97 Supercab with the same problem. What does Ford do to fix it? I was just going to lossen the "U" bolts and hammer the leaf spring back into place. Then put some clamps on the leaf to prevent this from happening again.

I have the same problem. I tried to hammer it back into place after loosening the u-bolts and such but it didn't work. I've just left it alone. I'm not very happy with the Ford leaf springs anyway.
