Question steering

I have a 1999 F150 4X4. My steering box is loud when turning. I have heard this is a common problem with the F-150. Is their a way to stop the sound when turning. It happens at all speeds.

turn up the radio...

seriously though, almost all of them have a loud whine. I have a 97 and it has always been loud. you could check the PS fluid level in case it's low.

if you are talking about a loud squealing noise when turning i had the same problem in my 97.

what i did was get a grease gun with a needle tip and puncture the rubber boots on the pitman arm and shot some grease in there.then turn the steering wheel all the way from one side to the other a couple times and it started to go away.

try that, if that doesnt work then i dunno what else. good luck.
