Post ride quality

I am unhappy with the ride quality of my 2000 F-150 4WD (with off-road package). Is there any way to soften the ride? Can I remove a leaf from the rear springs? Can the torsion bars be adjusted on the front to soften the ride? ? I never carry more than the 1000# camper in the bed but I want all the advantages of the 4WD package for desert trips here in the Southwest.

Have you checked the air pressure in your tires to make sure they aren't over-inflated? Could be a cheap fix if they are.
