Squeak
OK, I know this could be anything, but I got an annoying squeak coming from underneath my truck. Real noticeable when I drive with the windows down and still noticeable with them up. Sort of a constant jittering-type sqeak. I've tried jumping up and down on the bumper and I don't hear a squeak. Only when driving. Has anyone heard of any service bulletins or do I just take it to the dealer for a quick lube?

It may be from your torsion bars. Climb under your truck and spray some white lythium at each end of the torsion bars were they go into the brackets. If this quiets them up, it will only be a temp fix. You'll need to take them loose and lube them up with some thick grease. If it does not help then look elsewhere. This happened to mine and has cured the problem. It only seemed to creak when I braked or went over slight bumps. Very Annoying!
Good Luck, Scott

Check the tailgate. On my F150, with the windows down, I can hear a squeak from the tailgate when going over washed-out roads. I believe the rubber stops located on the upper part of the bed create a squeak as the tailgate flexes slightly when going over bumps. You may either need to clean them, lubricate with a grease (not sure whats best, but vasoline seems like it'd work), or replace them if they're worn. My 99 has this squeak and i've pinpointed the noise as these rubber stops. Hope this helps.

I have a similar squeak that only happens when driving. I read a post before that said the cotter pins on the front hubs loosen up and cause a squeak/rattle. THe fix was to pop the lug covers off and check and if yours are loose, put some RTV or something like that around it to stop the noise. I have yet to check that on my truck, but other member have claimed it works.

You guys have mentioned every one of the squeaks I've had. I fixed the tailgate by just putting electical tape around the **** that the locks grab onto on each side of the bed, so it had a tighter fit. It's only a quick fix but its the only way that seems to work for me.
My Weld wheels also had a strange creaking to them, which I thought for a while was coming from my bearings but found out that they were the covers to the wheels, I used fish tank air supply hose split which shut them up.
Thanks Red BullSr, I really think the best mod I have done has been the TransGo Shift kit. It is awesome. Fixed alot of the little problems with the trans, especially after changing to the bigger tires. I'm not so hot on the superchip. I got it from someone from F150online, so I got a deal. Really glad I did not pay full price. Did not really notice much improvement anywhere and sure the hell don't want to pay $$$ for premium fuel. I'm sure lots of people THINK there is a huge improvement, but I did not notice it. Only my .02.

I'm due for my service check at the dealer so I'll be asking him to fix it. Since the truck was a new model I went with the dealer service package for the life of the (basic) warranty.
It doesn't sound like the tailgate and it doesn't sound like it is coming from the front end. It squeaks when I'm only when I'm driving. Even coasting in reverse out of my driveway. It sounds like it is coming from the area beneath the truck at the junction between the bed and the cab. I constant chitter-type squeak.
Talk about annoying!

I just had my 2001 SuperCrew serviced for an annoying creak that was coming from underneath. They did exactly what Sqanto804 suggested - loosened the torsion bars up and filled the pockets with grease. Not only did it get rid of the creak but it actually smoothed out the ride. There must have been a lot of friction happening in there.

I had the nasty squeek coming from the front end of my truck, which I notice especially at slow speeds such as going through a drive through. Ended up being the pitman arm which had a Technical Service Bulliten. Had it replaced. Noise gone.
