Post Coil Spacers ( CCLA ? )

Ok, I heard someone talking about coil spacers for the front end to lift the truck a little. So I went to Pep Boys and found 1 inch spacers. Like a big plastic donut. I was wondering if it does lift them and also if it tightened up the ride at all? Thanks anyone who can help.

Yes on both questions. I just put those doughnuts in the lower A arm and then put the spring on top of the spacer. It Made a bigger difference than I thought they would. When one side was done and the other side not, you could really tell the difference. After the front was done it looked like the rear was sagging so we had to add more blocks to the rear.

Ok, just two more. Do you know what size I need or is it a standard size? Also, is it safe, I mean couldn't the spring slip off the donut if the suspension is completely unweighted? I just want to make sure it is safe. I found mine for $5.99 per side. What a great price.

Thanks CCLA, you are the person I was looking for.

Size of what?? Blocks? Spacer? My spacer is 1" I have 3" blocks in the rear. I thought about the spring coming out too, at first. But I have had No problems and I've done some Offroad stuff. Mud, Rocks etc. No problem. If it was gonna come off it would have done it when we went wheeling up a cliff in San Antonio. I had to hit some stuff pretty hard.

The spring compressor you'll need is the kind that goes inside the spring and faces out.

Sorry about the size thing, what I meant was the diameter of the spring. That way I don't get a donut that is to big or to small.

In regards to the spring compressor I have a plan. What I'm going to do is get two ratchet tie downs and put one on each side of the spring. Then I'll just ratchet them down until I have enough room.

Bones,

Go rent a spring compressor or have the work done. If the ratchet strap slips, and it might, you are in big trouble. It can cause death. Please do not take a chance with your life. Get the proper tools for the job.

Kindest regards

Definitely rent the compressor. They are not expensive, and that is the only way to be safe with those springs. Be careful.

Thanks guys. Especially for looking out for us mentally ill (me) folks. I guess it would make sense to rent the right tool. I'll probably pick up those spacers today or tommorrow after work. Thanks for the help.

Ok, I need some names. Who makes the coil spacers everyone is using? And do they have 2inch ones? I have gone every place I can think of and can't find spacers that will fit my truck. All I can find is the ones that are solid (without the shock hole).

Thanks

Bones,
The coil spacers I have are made by Superior Industries. They actually measure about 1.75"
thick. I bought mine from Pep Boys for around $6.00 each. The part number is 18-1901. Good luck.

today I had the install done for the 1.75 inch spacers and it looks great(kinda like a stock 4x4 ORP) and seems like the ride didnt change much at all. I just cant get over how good it looks.

went to get an alinement today and the guys a goodyear want $160 for the camber kits and $50 for the alinement. that sucks big time!! that a $210 alinement plus the $100 for the install of the coil spacer at the alinement. When i first saw the coilspacer posts i thought they sounded like a cheap way to level my truck. I didnt realize that i was going to end up spinding $310 for not queit 3 inches of lift.

You answered my question before I got to ask it. Wanted to know if allignment was required after installing the spacers. I might do it anyway. I will also need the camber kit becuase I messed up and did not get the dealer to do an allignment under warranty during the first 12000 miles
