Chassis Tech or Western Chassis
I am thinking about lowering my 97. I wanted to know what everyone was using and how everthing turned out. I am interested in the Western Chassis w/air but it seems that Chassis tech's kit is cheaper. Please respond with what you used and how it turned out. Any info will help us all.
Ive never used any of these brands but most people on the lowering scene say that Chassis Tech/AIM is junk compared to Western Chassis, Belltech, or DJM. However a few people on this board have used Chassis Tech and have been satisfied but i would recommend saving up for a quality kit such as the Belltech. Check out the message board at www.sporttruck.com and you will see what i mean about the negative press surrounding Chassis Tech. In addition they also have a 20% fee on returns if they even let you return it. I hate to talk bad about something ive never used but if you go by reputation or take heed of others advice i would stay away from that stuff.
Just my 2 cents.
Just my 2 cents.
popeye...
Just my 2 cents worth...I used AIM 2" A-arms up front and I was not happy with the design at all. The brackets for the factory sway bar did not line up and the bracket that holds the brake line was hitting on the brake line bracket that mounts to the frame(all of which I modified to fit). It just seemed like poor engineering and lack of thought.
On the other hand I spoke to the guys at Sport Truck Direct (distributor for Western Chassis) and they were great. I got the 3-5" adjustable brackets and hangers for the rear and the quality was awesome. The material used was much thicker and heavier duty than stock. It came with all necessary hardware and installed easily. From what Truckin' magazine says, they were the first ones to develope the dropped spindles for lowering vehicles.
Anyways, I was just responding with my personal experiences, good luck.

97 F150, 2wd, Light mocha, Supercab, Tinted windows, Piaa's, 4.2/auto. 4” drop in the front and 5” in the rear. Pioneer head unit w/steering wheel remote, Alpine amp, a custom box (what a pain) with a 10” Kicker pro comp sub.

Forget Chassie Tech, first off it's a %35 restocking fee and you can't return it with a written fax stating you will be charged a %35 restocking fee. For the BEST kit www.californisupertrucks.com, then the DJM, and so one. If your only looking for a 3in front then just go with the Bell Coil. Only my opinion, you can do as you wish.

I went with the western chassis kit and was very pleased with the quality and service. It had 3" eibach coils up front, and shackles and hangers for the rear with up to 5 inches of drop. I also got the doestch tech lowered shocks and a front end alignment kit and the whole thing was about $550.00 bucks. If you lower the front go ahead and get the alignment kit with the cam bolts. If not, whoever aligns the front end afterward will have to add it and it will cost you more.
