Post Does a body lift need new shocks

I got a 3in body lift on my f-150 and the ride went down hill....i guess it could have been the tires (BFG's) i tried various PSI's and the truck still rides alittle rough. Is this because the shocks are over extended in the back. If so does anyone have any cheap recomendations to what type i should get and where i can get theminstalled. Also how do you post pictures on the site?

Cool

There are two things you will need for your truck now you have a body lift.
1. Edelbrock shocks, part numbers for 2WD Front (3350) Rear (3450)
2. Hellwig Anti Sway Bar

You can thank me later.

1) No you dont need new shocks when you add a body lift, shocks go to the frame not bed.

2) The reason your ride is suffering alittle is because the BFGs have a very thick side wall and don't give in like the crappy street tires Ford sells with the trucks......You will find that you handleing though has probably improved though, since tire roll has eliminated.....DAVE

Question

What???? After this 3" body lift, is my ride gonna suck? It should remain the same right. I mean, I'm not changing my suspension.

Help, i'm starting to get cold feet w/this body lift thing.

Red face

Tire pressure 43PSI!! That's a little high. I run 35 PSI in all four tires

awww...don't get cold feet...its fun especially if you do it yourself!!! My ride didn't suffer that I can tell but I did put on new Bridgestones roughly the same time I did the lift.

Go for it!

by the way where's CCLA...he's usually put in his .02 by now......????

Consider This My .02 - Pardon my absence from the boards. I was in San Antonio with Dave and the others

NO Like Dave Said you don't need new shocks with the Body Lift. As he mentioned the shocks are mounted to the frame. The antisway bar sounds like a good idea though because of the extra height. Its probably the tires like Dave said.

New shocks Might be a good idea though, unless you plan suspension mods. If you do then wait. No sense buying shocks twice
