Question '99 4x2 Supercab Lowering ?'s

I'm interested in lowering my truck 3" to 4".
I have narrowed it down to the 3/4 Belltech lowering kit and the Roush performance kit. My questions are:
1. How much is the towing/payload capacity reduced with the roush mono leaf?
2. Where can I order a roush kit from and how much does it cost?
3. Which kit would be easier for a shadetree mechanic to install?

Thanks in advance for any replies,
Rob

Thumbs up

1.I think it cuts payload in half?

2.i called ROUSH directly1 800 59 ROUSH...depending where you live they might direct you somewhere else...dealer/rep. etc.
....i paid $943.00 for the kit (i think i got a deal because there are no dealers and were no reps in my area at that time)

3.the install will be much easier because you don't have to cut you spring hangers in the rear(pain in the a$$ from what i hear!)

i purchased mine before i had a computer,so i used the phone alot!,i suggest e-mailing ROUSH they can give you all the info you want go to www.roushracing.com , www.roushperf.com good luck!!!!!

(p.s. i love mine!!!!!!!!!)

Cool

BLAQ_XLT,

I also replied with my experiences cutting off the hangers on my truck under your other topic. The Roush lowering kit is probably the best on the market. The best thing about it is that the rear leafs are calibrated with higher performance rates, so it reduces body roll and generally inmpoves the handling characteristics of the rear of the truck. The main reasons I didn't go with it was for price reasons and I will probably lower my truck even more once I have new tires and rims.

Regarding the payload capacity, you can always add some helper air bags. On my previous lowered truck (an S_10) I pulled a 16ft., dual axle Pace trailer. I couldn't have done it without adding the air bags. The ones I used added 2500 lbs. of load leveling capacity.

Good luck...
