Question Raise just the front end of a 4x2

OK, I have seen and read a lot about raising and lowering trucks, but I'm not sure what the consensus is about raising just the front of a 4x2 to make it sit level. Cranking torsion bars seems to defeat part of the purpose of the suspension, but I've never seen this done.

What is the consensus for best way to raise the front to be level?

Hi Y2kXLTSport
I think all 4x2 trucks use coil springs, thats why it is easier to lower the rear with shackles to even it out.

The problem is I really do not want to lower the truck at all. Would rather leave it as is than lower the rear.

Y2KXLTSport,

A fellow member, CCLA, used 1" coil spacers. https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000382.html

Y2kXLTSport-
Most people around here say the 3" spindles are the best way to go with the 2WDs. I ordered mine last week and should get them next Tuesday. The spindles in the front plus a 1" block or add-a-leaf in the rear will level the pickup.

I agree with you, I wanted to raise the front end to level it and not lower the rear. I hit enough crap with the front end as it is. Good luck.

y2kxltsport, I hate to preach the Fabtech company but That's the company I plan to use for my truck. They have a number of options to choose from. Sounds like their 2" basic system would work for you. It's a new coil and should lift your truck high enough for 285's, if that's what your looking for. email at fabtechmotorsports.com good luck!

I like the Spindels + a 1" block in the rear. As Loser said I do have 1" coil spacers but that's in addition to the spindles, and a body lift. The Spacers were added to help clear the 35's

Cool

I don't think the 4x2 models even have torsion bars... Can someone back me up on this? Coil springs would be the better way to go I think and they are not nearly as expensive as the spindles.

Correct, 2wd's do not have torsion bars. Most members of the board agree that taller springs arent worth it due to ride quality, alignment, etc. Spindles are the way to go if you want it right. Maybe try a spacer in front and see how that works for you. If you are mechanically inclined, installation and removal isnt that hard and it may solve the leveling problem fairly painlessly. There was a prior thread where a few members were complaining about using taller springs. They just dont seem worth it.

My 2 cents

Thumbs up

y2kxltsport,
I agree with brew1891. If you are going to lift the truck, you must go with the spindles. I went with the coils and i regreted it, i was the biggest mistake i have made in a long time. It will make you ride stiff and the aligment off. In the long run you are better off with the spindles. I got mine from 4wheel parts wholesellers for about $415.00 a set plus the 2" blocks for the rear for $50.00. When you call them ask for the pro comp spindles which are bulleyes. You get a better price and do not ask me why. I hope this helps.
