Post Clunking/Slop?

Some of you may remember me asking all the anoying questions on lift kits....thanks for your help...Anyway I have a 3.5" suspension lift on my 97 F150 flareside with 33" tires on her. The front end feel weird/sounds weird over bumps. I kinda wanna call it a clunk or slap that I feel in the floor board and hear. Is this normal? What is it? I can't find anything loose ideas?

I had a similar problem on my non-lifted 95 and it turned out to be a broken tranny mount. Something to check anyway.

Bob1-

Stole this from another thread maybe you have this?????

"By the way, for those of you with 1997 F-150s, they said apparently there is a ford bulletin regarding a clunk under the box having to do with the fuel tank, although the system didnt show anything for the 99s."

HEY! Silverback i have got the same problem with mine i posted a topic on this a while back i put 285/75/16 tires on my 97 F-150. quiete a while back! but here lately when i hit a bump or turn in my drive i feel a clunk or sloppy feel in the floorboards, suspension and the steering wheel and even through the gas pedal i had looked ever where under the front end? and could not find a thing loose! until one guy on this board told me to check the small (very puny) u-joint in the steering shaft next to were it bolts to the steering gear box shaft? (BINGO) this thing was wore pretty bad! it had quite a bit of play in it. the guy here on this great site said his F-150 felt the same way as my truck and yours is feeling? and the new steering shaft made it feel all tight and new again? I can not tell you it fixed mine! because I have not put mine in yet because it has been cold here? but when it warms up and i put it in i will be sure to post a topic on this and let everyone know how it worked out! however unfourtantly you cant just buy the U-joint you have to buy the whole lower steering sector shaft it runs $74.95 here at my dealer? i just wished a aftermarket place would build a heavier steering shaft with big U-JOINTS? also i recommend a steering stabilizer! i wished i would have put the stabilizer on when i went to the bigger tires and would not have waited 25.000 miles later to have done so? it might have saved me from having to buy a steering shaft? i have a stabilizer on mine now and it helped a whole lot on the tire wanting to kick the wheel out of your hand when you hit a bump and will stop a lot of the wear on this (puny) steering U-JOINT if your interested in getting a steering stabilizer you can go to www.roughcountry.com i got mine here and is a very easy item to install and it is a good quality made product. and you get a free dust boot color of choice and it is made by HECKETHORN mine was $52.00 including shipping and handeling GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
