Off-Road-Package
I have a 97 F150-4x4-ExCab-4.6Lv8. I have read that Fords off-road-pkg comes with h/d shocks, skid plates and decals. I recently replaced my stock 16" wheels with stock 17" w/265-70-17 but I still don't sit as high as the off-road-pkg trucks. What else do I need to do w/o purchasing an aftermarket lift kit? Does it have something to do with the torsion bars? Any suggestions would help.
Mine sits just as high with the 16 inch wheels but I put 265/75 R16's on it to get the same height(31.6 inches). I did put better shocks on but I do not think that gave me any lift. I don't know what to tell you. You have everything you need other than the shocks. What truck are you using to compair with? Are you sure it's stock? Front Torsion bars are at the same adjustment?

hey cphilip, thanks for the reply. I usually measure the window height with a tape and the orp seems about an inch taller. Maybe its just my imagination. You are right though, the 17" wheels/tires are not any taller than the 16" w/265-70-16 but they are .5" wider and look a bit more aggressive.
Only the wheel is wider not the tires but I do like that saw blade type. Just hard to find tires and they are not cheap even then. Look into the torsion bar if you are measuring near the front area. His might be cranked up a little more than yours.
Hey Highground, I put 265/75x16's on my 97', and I think it sits just as high as the "Off Road" stickered 4x's. I would love to find out if the skid plates are available aftermarket.
Thanks,
Rob
