Post Airshocks?

I am thinking of getting airshocks after I have worn out my OEM shocks. I am looking into airshocks because from what I gather, it is designed for trucks hauling and towing heavy stuff around and can add a good sizable chunk of payload leveling capacity. I don't really mind not getting an Eldebrock-type ride, since I haven't rode in one yet. I already like my trucks handling, all I really want is more payload capacity. I already spent 100 bucks for a 990 lb helper spring (Hellwig EZ990) and I don't like to spend 200 bucks more for the LP-25's or 250 bucks on airbags and have my EZ990's wasted. Since I will be replacing rear shocks anyways, figured I can kill two birds with one stone by getting a heavy-duty shock with additional payload capacity. Here are the options I am looking at:

1) Airshocks
2) Monroe Load-Levelers
3) Eldebrocks or other HD shocks and install Superior coil springs around them.

Any other suggestions?

Cool

I have not seen anything on the setup you are asking about, but have used airshocks before and loved them on a ranger. Unloaded and with minimum psi, they rode like stock shocks, and with max. psi (150) fully loaded bed, rode like a cadillac! I have thought about using air shocks with a 2/4 suspension drop to retain load and trailer capacity on my 150, but haven't got the nerve up to modify it yet. let me know what you decide to do and how it turns out!

Thumbs down

Monroe load levelers suck (been their done that) the springs will rub right through the cylinder wall. Mine only lasted 6 MO. Had them replaced with standard shocks and added a leaf to each spring.

Good_Guy, your only choice as to hauling heavy loads and towing is the Hellwig air bladders. Your part way there with the over load helper springs, check out Trailer Life mag and do a search for Hellwig air bags and tank+ compressor.
8-10 # empty and 40#s loaded, it will haul you to he__ and back.
