Post Front End Pops on right turns

I know there was some earlier discussion on this, but... My "new" '97 does this when I make a right turn into a steeply sloped driveway. Has anyone recently got this fixed. Is there a TSB and what is the number? Is there a permanent fix or is it still just a grease job? My truck is in the shop for a couple of days getting the roof cracks and side-exhaust concerns fixed. I told them about the right turn pop. Just wanted to be armed in case they say they can't do anything.
Thanks.
Ken

My guy said they did some adjusting of control arms (I think) and some heavy lube and he said that took care of it. Don't know for sure yet cause now it's in the body shop getting the roof cracks fixed.

I also have the "pop" problem on my 97 reg cab, but mine sounds like it is from under the box. I hope some one figures out the problem and post's how they fixed it! Hearing the clunk every time i turn right into a driveway is getting old.

I had the same problem with my truck. The problem is quite simple and so is the fix. The turn stops on the suspension are rubbing together to make the popping noise. The solution: apply anti-seize compound to the turn stops. If you use a nickel/graphite based compound, it will last much longer than a petroleum based product. I made one application over six months ago, and it hasn't popped since.

Attn MarkS:

Not being a mechanic... Is this something I can do myself. Can you tell me where the stops are? Can I get this lubricant at any autoparts place?

I got my truck back after they supposedly fixed the POP. It's still doing it. They said they did a bit of adjustment and some heavy lube. I'm not going to make a special trip back. I'll catch it next time, but I am curious if there is something that is wearing down or subject to breaking when it does pop. I guess we can avoid right turns into steep driveways!

Kenster,
This is a very simple task. The turn stops are on the rear side of the lower control arm. You will probably notice the area that is being rubbed because it will likely be rusted. Just apply a liberal amount of the lubricant to the turn stops on both the control arm and the spindle. As far as locating the anti-seize compound, I can't help you there. I "borrowed" some from where I work.
I hope this helps.

check out your rubber bushings on your control arms or radius arms...the bushings are what keep those kinds of noises from happening so you may have a bad bushing...i have the same problem you have....but i have no bushing at all in my left radius arm so yea lol
