Post Proper 4" Lift?

I'm new to the 4wd circle but considering buying a '95 F-150 reg cab 4wd which has been fitted with a 4" procomp lift and 15x10 wheels wrapped with 33" rubber. My concern is that the owner said that when he first had the truck lifted, he broke the rear drive shaft. He said the reason was due to the bigger tires. My question/concern is how to tell if the lift was done properly. I've heard that when lifted, either the transf case has to be lowered or the axles have to be rotated to maintain the correct drive shaft angle, otherwise the rear end(s) will quickly be ruinned. Is this true? How can I tell if its okay? What else should I watch out for?

jkk,

Ok, I'll take a stab. I have seen many 4X's that are lifted 4"'s and more and have alot bigger tires than 33's. I have never heard of breaking a drive shaft from just the added stress of 35's and/or a 4" susp. lift.
My guess is that the previous owner was very hard on the drive train.
