Edebrock Shocks and Clunking
Installed the IAS shocks a couple weeks ago and seem to have a weird problem. When I hit a bump on the right side I am getting a small clunking sound as if somethings loose. I get no such sound when hitting a similar bump with the left side of the truck. I have crawled under the rig and checked all the shock mounts to verify they are tight, I don't know if the noise is from the front or rear. Steering is tight, doesn't wander at all. Truck has 33K miles on it.
Other than this I am extremely happy with the shocks, much better than stock. I'm getting ready to take the rig into a front end shop to have it checked out, but would like any suggestions as to what may be the cause, so I can have the mechanic look into it.
Thanks for any input.

Steve I have the same problem with my 97 F150 after it was lifted 3.5 inches, they switched out the front coils to fabtech the stock shocks went to Rancho 5000's and new upper arms. I did not have this noise prior, they will be looking at my truck on 1/17/2000. I will let you know what they find. Things I wonder about just in thinking have you lifted the front end of the ground to let the front wheels hang? Then check the linkage etc....This I would think would make it easier to find a loose part.....Or could it be a defective shock?
Anyhow I will inform after 12pm PST time on Monday....

Steve55, check your lower mount rear shock bracket. The reason is mostly the stock or other shocks you had on before the shock bushing is bigger. On the other hand the Edelbrock has a slightly small ureanthane black bushings that you need too tighten more than before to be snug. On some trucks I worked on the bracket even had to be slightly bent in to be tight. Just look at it and grap the bottom part of the shock and use slight force twist or shake to see if you can hear the clunk noise on it. Hopfully that's your problem and just use a 18mm socket and wrench to tighten it up.
