How does the Fab Tech lift ride?
I was going to go with the spindle lift & used a couple of jacks to lift the truck to see what it would look like. It was a little
too high for me so I'm going to go with the levelings springs. I e-mailed Fab Tech, but they don't give out their spring rates. I'm just wondering how much the ride will change
with new springs. I know the Fab Tech springs
come with front shocks, but Roughcountry sells leveling springs for $50 less, then I could put RS9000's all around.
Any info is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

D,
Only one thing, the Fab-Tech leveling kit only works with Supercab trucks, not the regular cabs. The Rough Country rep I spoke with via the phone was really vague about the details of their kit, so if you find out anything about it please post. Thanks, Doc

more to come....

Your ride will be a litlle stiffer, but nothing that would bother anyone. I had the springs in my truck and i really liked them. Just keep in mind that you are going to have to realign the truck and also you are going to need an eccentric bolt kit in order to align the truck. This kit can br ordered from fabtech and it is about $35.00. hope this helps.
I called Rough Country, but no answer. They must be on Christmas vacation. So I called
National Springs. They sell Moog progressive springs with 2"'s of lift for $120. I called
a local parts store that sells Moog parts &
they didn't have a p# for the springs. So I called Moog & they're on vacation too. I think this is the way I'm going to go. The less money I spend on a lift, the more I can spend on the wheels. With the alignment I'll
take it to get it checked for free, get a copy of the read out & guesstimate what eccentrics to get at the ford dealer. Then install them myself. I did this with my 93 Explorer & it worked out pretty good.

d reyes,
if you are gonna just go up 3 inches use the spindles....you can use the factory shocks and it will be cheaper...but if you are like me, the truck wont be high enough..I will be putting the spindles on also because the 3 1/2 isnt big enough for me.......but im gonna wait until the 285s wear out........will probably go all the way up eventually...that will be 9 1/2 inches excluding the new tires what ever they may be....Good luck which ever route you take..I like mey lift..alittle rougher on bad roads and speed bumps but on smooth road little or no difference......Dave

d reyes, could you please post any info you aquire about the leveling kits. I am also going to add a leveling kit and possibly raise the rear again with add-a-leaves or a small block. I have a 97 2wd XL(4.2-5spd) and want to gain the look of a 4wd. Also does anyone know what size tires the truck will clear with stock rims and the leveling kit? I believe its 285/75/16 but im not sure. Any other suspension info from anyone would be useful for a recently converted ford owner. I want to make my 2wd look as good as my old lifted Wrangler I just sold did. Feel free to email at BREW1891@aol.com

I was curious as to why the Fabtech leveling kit wouldn't work on a regular and got vague answers so I did some checking. It's been awhile but I think the numbers are close. Regular cab coil springs are around 1200# and super cab coil springs are around 1620-1650# springs.
