Question Lowering 4x4

Has anyone lowered a 97+ F-150 4x4? I saw one in Superford and was wondering if anyone had any experiences to share. Looking to do a Lightning clone, but it will be 4wd.

Ok, now just how low are you wanting to go? I guess you don't really need the capabilities of a 4x4 then huh?

DynoDan
Welcome to F-150 on line.
Lowering a 4x4 would be a lot of work.
I too am looking to make my regular cab/shortbed handle better.
What I am planning to do is.
(1)Cat back exhaust(Bassani, allready done)
(2)super chip (on order)
(3) Edlebrock shocks (this winter)
(4) rear sway bar
(5)17x8 inch rims (to replace my 16" rims)
(6) 275/60-17" tires (same OD as my 255/70-16 tires on my truck)But 2-3 inches wider. They are the same size tires on the 93-95 Lightning.
There are a few choices in these tires, the firestone GTA that came on the older lightning HR rated. Toyo makes a directional tire VR rated, and I thing bridgestone also make a tire in this size.
While none of these mods will lower your truck, the tire rim combination, will give you a wider stance, and make your tuck handle better.
Hope this helps some
Happy Thanksgiving

Mudder,
Does DynoDan have to "need the capabilities of a 4X4" to own one?? I not picking on you alone, it seems to me that the last guy to ask this got pounded into submission by the "4x4's have to be lifted" bunch... Don't get me wrong I really like the looks of a truck lifted so high that you get nose bleeds riding in it, I just wouldn't do that to mine. I actually was looking for an answer to this question myself for reasons I won't get into here. I guess what I'm trying to say is live and let live.... I'll get off my soap box now and put on my flame retardant suit...

Take care
Mike

Well I apologize if I made anybody mad. Guess I just figured in my stupid mind that the purpose of a 4x4 was for some offroad use, just thought that if you lowered one it would defeat the purpose.
