Well If I had A 4wd I would've used the Rancho or the Superlift.

Rancho, Pro Comp and Superlift use replacement spindles. Trailmaster uses ball joint spacers which is why their kit is cheaper. Personaly I like the Rancho kit it is the only kit that uses a fully welded subframe.

I installed a Trailmaster lift on mine and have had absolutly no problems with it.I reccomend it if your not going to do really extreme offroading. It is a very solid, well engineered kit that comes with good instuctions and was installed in a day with 2 people in a driveway. No problems. I just could'nt see spending an additional $400-$700 more for the other kits for the amount of offroading that my truck actually sees. The spacers where a concern but after seeing them installed I'm not concered anymore. Agian, if your wanting a kit for the extreme I'd go with the Superlift otherwise the Trailmaster is worth taking a look at. Hope this helps.

I know I have a different suspension setup, but I have a procomp lift. I haven't had any problems with it and it actually gave about 5 inches of lift instead of 4. I also had a 6 inch procomp on my 97 Z71. I never had any problems with it either and it drove really well. Around Houston Procomp and Superlift are probably the majority. I have never had a rancho lift because I didn't like the bright red components they used. Procomps are that stainless steel looking dark grey and superlifts are black. I personally liked those two lifts. Procomp also has the big skidplate that can be added that gives the truck a very mean look. I am also unfamilar with the trailmaster lift though. Friend of mine is putting on a 5inch superlift this weekend on his 97F150. He already has a body lift with 35x14.40 Mickey Thompsons. After the suspension lift he is going to run 39 inch mickey's. Man this truck is gonna be huge. Anyway all the lifts are probably okay, just depends on your preference of looks and money.

Hey 4x4..I agree that all the lifts are probably fine. All have good reputations.Did you happen to install a steering stabilizer on your truck? Just wondering if anybody notices any difference with them. That truck with the 39" Micky's is going to look awesome!!Hope he's got the gearing. I really wanted something that size but I needed to keep the truck very driveable(plus wife said no way).
I might have to switch to some 36" Cepeks.A tad taller & wider.
Take it easy.

hey squanto, try Rancho's steering stabilizer, it worked great for me and I only have 33s! I was getting a little(ok a lot) of bump steer banging through the trails. I installed the single bracket with an RS5000, those of you running 35s and up may want to opt for the dual setup.
have fun and happy wheelin'!!!!

Yes I did install a stabilizer shock. The Super Duty's have the stock single stabilizer already on them when you get the off road package. I did though replace the stock shock with the rancho 5000 stabilizer.
Maybe alittle better than it was, but I don't think anything will help with my tires. These swamper SX ride like SHI*, I can't even get them balanced right.(Done it 3 times in about 2000 miles) I also want some Cepeks(they look awesome) but just don't want to spend 275 a tire for them.
I might try the dual stabilizer but will probably save that money toward some new radial Swampers or Cepeks. I would say though on trucks that don't already have a steering stabilizer that it will be of some noticeable help. MY .02! My friend with the 39's should have his truck finished by Saturday, it will be interesting to see how his gears hold up. I am not sure on what gears he has right now. Got another friend whos got the 39 Mickey's on his Super Duty like mine but with an 8 inch lift and he is taking his lift and Mickeys off. Says it rides too rough and even with the Powerstroke it doesn't have the power he likes so he is returning it back to stock. It sure looks good though!

WSection..Well I went ahead and order a Rancho stabilizer, should be here tommorrow.Steerings not bad but it dose'nt hurt to have a little protection.

4x4...That was another problem with going to a bigger tire, treads are too aggressive, and like you said, they ride like ****!and are very loud. BUT they look good. I had 36" Cepeks on my Jeep CJ-7
and loved them but Jeeps are noisy and ride like **** anyway. Also yor right, very $$$.

squanto:
sorry, I don't. I am about to lift my truck, and am leaning(heavily) toward the Edelbrocks. How is your Trailmaster lift working out? Do you offroad much, or is it just a cruiser?

WSECTION..I've been very happy with it. I did it myself with a friend in a day, and had no problems. I do go offroad but not much. Mostly a daily driver. It does not see anything too extreme. I think I'm going to order the edelbrocks tommorrow. I'll give them a whirl. Did I see that you ordered some headers? Where from and how much? Also, know of any companies that sell prerunner bumpers?

I ordered the headers from the online store at this web site. they did a group sale. they are JBA headers for 419. I have them, and am putting them in this weekend. as far as prerunner bumpers, I have been looking for a while know, and as a matter of fact just ordered one today! give me your email address and I will send you a picture. It's pretty sweet. the company is called Fierce Motorsports. I dealt with the owner who drives a 97 f-150, so you know the bumper is gonna fit right.
