Question add-a-leaf

I am thinkink of installing Rancho's add-a-leaf for a slight height increase but moreover, a little better abilility to handle some occasional hevy loads. anyone ever install this type product? should I just go for new springs alltogether?

I had "add-a-leaf" springs and air shocks on a prior compact truck in order to incease load capacity. The springs did exactly what they were supposed to do, incease load capacity, add some height, and make the back suspension stiff!! It was so stiff, even with the shocks deflated that the back end would jump on small bumps! I thought it made the ride too harsh, but that's a personal opinion. They are relatively cheap though. Good luck in whatever you choose! Just my two cents.

thanks,
My thought was I would stuff some BFG 33x12.5 tires under with a twist of the torsion bars and an add-a-leaf in the rear, while at it change over to Edelbrock shocks, and still fit in the garage!

I just installed Pro-Comp add a leafs last night. It is really a two person job,but I think you can do it by yourself. It should take you about 30 minutes per side. My install took a little longer because one of my rear spring hangers was bent. I got my add a leafs from Summit for $50. I did have to cut about 1.5" off the front of the add a leafs because they were slightly too long. The truck is much stiffer now and it seems to brake a little better because the rear end does lift up as much as before. If you need more info let me know.

only 50.00 for the procomp! the rancho's that I saw were 150.00! did you get your springs fit with the recall clip? if so, what did you do when you added the extra leaf?

Yes, I did get the spring clips installed, but the Peo-Comp Add-a-Leafs came with new clips. The new add-a-leafs included all harware and 4 clips to hold the springs together. The part number from Summit is EXP-13124. They are the long leaf springs. That is why I had to cut a little off the front of the spring, but I don't think the short springs will do as good of a job. Hope this helps.
