This is the first time I have used this forum so please be patient with me. I am looking for information on leveling my 01 2WD Supercrew. How much will the rear have to be lowered and how is it done. Thanks

I just finished the work of lowering the rear of mine. I installed a set of DJM 2" drop shackles and a pair of Belltech 2 degree shims (restores the correct driveline angles after the shackles are installed). On my truck, the rear drop required to level it would have been approx 2.5". My install netted a total drop of about 1.75", so the rear of my truck is still about .75" higher than the front. This is fine by me since I tow a couple different trailers with my truck. If you go this route it should cost you approx $50, if you do the install yourself.

You have at least two other options as well for lowering the rear of your truck.

Option 1: JLP (Johnny Lightning Products) sells a 3" drop shackle which should put your truck level front to rear. You'll also need axle shims, but I have no idea as to the angle required. If you go this route expect to shell out about $125 with you again doing the install work.

Option 2: Hotchkis sells a set of replacement leaf springs that drop the back 3", which should again get your truck level. No shims would be required with this option. If it weren't for the cost (about $350), this is the option I'd have picked for my truck. There's a set of these in the classified section if you have any additional interest in this option.

Hope this info helps. Good luck with your truck.

Cool

Thanks BigDeal for the information.

Option three has already been sold, seriously thinking of going with option 2. Just need to find out what angle of shims I would need to complete this project. The shims you are talking about go between the axle and the leaf spring?

You got it! One thing you're probably going to need to replace if you go with this option is the centering pin on the bottom of each spring pack. I would speculate that you're going to need a 4 degree (or greater) shim, and the stock pins aren't going to be long enough to accomodate the height of that shim and still center the axle on the spring pack. Mention this to the guys at JLP and I'm sure they can help you out with it when you buy your shackles. Good luck with your truck.

I dont know if this will help you out but my father attemtped to level his supercrew with an AIM 3inch spindles. The end result looked alright. The 3 inches in the front just barely leveled it out, considering the typical amount of sag these supercrew front ends have. This didnt last for long b/c the AIM spindles where misdrilled for the speed sensor and no matter how much effort we put in to line it up straight it never worked. So we had to remove and go back to stock. So sad. But worse AIM Industries denied that the spindles where defected and would not even open the box upon return. Lesson here, for me and my father was spindles leveled the supercrew, but finding other spindles like Fabtech could work, however if i am not mistaken the fabtech spindles are cast from the old bullseye brand spindle, and another thing i could be mistaken about is that i heard the Aim spindle is also a cast of the bullseye spindle. On the other hand, Fabtech made a 3inch lift spindle but now makes a 3.5inch spindle that widens the front track a considerable amount. I would not doubt being corrected here, but i hope my info can help you find something that fits your truck.
