Shocks for 2WD SuperCab
Shocks for 2WD SuperCab
I 'm planning to replace the shocks on my '99 SuperCab. 98% of the time the back is empty ('cept for the dog!), but the other 2% of the time it is towing a popup trailer with:
GVWR: 3049 lbs
Hitch wt: 330 lbs
What would be good replacement shocks? I've seen discussion on the Rancho RS9000 and RS5000, and I was thinking of doing a combo of the 5000s in front and the 9000s in back. Are they worth the extra $$$ for the amt of towing I do??
How hard is it to adjust the 9000s??

I have Fabtech shocks up front and the Rancho 9000's in back. I love the 9000's, they do a great job with whatever you are doing. It's easy to adjust them. Just crawl underneith (sp?) and turn the ****. Or you can get the in-cab unit that adjusts them. If I am carrying something really heavy, I turn it to 6 and on day to day stuff, I leave it at 3.

Personally, I don't think it really matters with regard to the front and back. The back is what is really "under stress" when hauling stuff. I was going to have 9000's on all four corners when I got my lift but the shop said they were not long enough. My small 4.2L didn't weigh down the new coils enough at that time. However, it has worked well for me. Besides, without the in-cab adjuster, it would be a pain in the butt to adjust the front if you had the 9000's.
If you just want a great all-around shock that's not too pricy, then go with the 5000's.
