7700 GVW rear spring code?

Because of the weight that I carry in the back of my truck, the rear springs are already starting to sag.

I was wondering if I could replace the rear leaf springs on my pick-up with the springs from a 7700 GVW or the springs from a LD F-250?

I found the spring code for my truck on the sticker in the door jamb under "SPR". My spring code is 6N and the springs are 2 1/2" wide. The distance from the center of the axle to the spring mounts are 32" behind and 25" in front. These measurements were taken following the arch of the spring.

Does anyone know the spring code for a LD F-250 or a 7700 GVW 4x4 SCAB?

I don't quite understand how that link is suppose to help you. I also don't have an answer to your question, just possibly another problem that you might run into.

And that is, I believe all of the heavy-duty leafs (7700 GVW and above) are 3 inches wide. That means you'ld probably need to change the leaf mounting points - which I've looked at doing and it looked like it would be a PITA.

Good luck though on whatever you decide to do.

SteveB, allow me to explain.

The Roadmaster active suspension springs do exactly what OPIE needs. They are kinda like spring helpers, And apply more tension as the springs are flexed. They assist the leaf springs by and improving handling under load. They are adjustable, and can be easily removed and reattached. They are called active because they apply only a slight tension when empty, but progressively add more tension as the leaf springs are flexed. It's like adding a swaybar but still maintaining left to right independance.

I put a set on about a 1.5 years ago. In addition to the load and handling improvements was the adjustability. Between the roadmasters and the torsion bars, I was able to level the truck (side to side) with a full gas tank, and adjust the rear end 3/4" higher than the front. There ain't nothing worse than a sagging truck rear end with only 500 lbs in the back.

sagittarius1 - Thank you for explaining that to me, however I already have the Hellwig LP-25 Progressive rate leafs added on my truck -- So I know what the product you posted the link for does.

Now let me take a minute to explain. Because he is talking about replacing his 2.5" leafs with 3" leafs, not a small or easy task to do, I assumed that he had already looked at all of the various "add-a-leaf" products out there and didn't like them for whatever reason.

Also, he didn't ask about ways to take care of his existing sagging suspention, otherwise I would have done as you did and told him about what I'm currently using as well as other products that I had looked at when shopping around.

Thanks for the info Steve. If the springs are 3" wide, then I'll have to try something else. I was hoping to avoid helper springs or airbags, maybe I'll see if I can get some custom springs made.

I've never seen a 7700 GVW on the dealers lot. Are these something that have to be special ordered?

No, they don't need to be special ordered as I have seen a few on the dealers lots around me. But I'm sure if you are looking for specific options then yes it probably would need to be a special order.

Considering the new information you've learned, if you are going to consider the add-a-leafs then recommend you check out Hellwig. They have a several options, ranging from the real small add-ons to leaf packages that "help load-level" upto 2500 lbs on a routine basis.

Here is a link to their site. Hellwig helper springs

If you have any questions about how they work feel free to ask.
