try to improve my ride..2wd screw
Hi everybody,
I looked at the archives to getting a smoother ride on my 2002 screw.. 4x2..
I found the velvet ride Shackles..
http://www.velvet-ride.com/
Did anybody use these? Comments?
Any other idea about smoothing the ride without going to a $2000 suspension airbag setup?

velvet ride
I put a set on my last truck which was a Chevy regular cab short bed. They made a tremendous improvement in ride quality as that short wheelbase caused a lot of rear end hop. I then installed them on my 01' Supercrew 4x2 with little improvement.
I don't think my Supercrew suffers too much from wheel hop because of weight and a long wheelbase. I actually found that I needed more control of the suspension. I did install new Edelbrock IAS Performer shocks at about $280.00 a set. They really tamed the ride of my truck considerably. I would recommend them. I also installed a Hellwig rear anti-sway bar which helped with body sway.
As a side note, I installed a set of Super Springs on my wifes 99' Explorer to raise the rear end a little. They made the single greatest improvement to the ride quality ( less sway AND softer ride ) of anything I have ever put on a vehicle. I simply can't believe how much better her Explorer rides, and she can't either.
I am seriously considering a set for my Supercrew. The only reason I haven't done it already is that they do raise the rear end of a vehicle about one inch. I hope this helps.
