Intresting thing I found on MSN today...

the MSN Autos page had an artical on the top 10 gas guzzlers

Check it out...

http://autos.msn.com/advice/windowsh...018601&src=msn

And if the link dosen't work heres the list, apparently Chevy really isn't doing that good on the gas mileage thing:

Lamborghini Murcielago 9/13/10
Chevrolet Silverado 2500 2WD 10/12/11
GMC Sierra 1500 10/12/11
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 10/12/11
Ferrari 456M 10/15/11
Ferrari 575M 10/16/12
Chevrolet Avalanche 10/13/12
Chevrolet Suburban 10/13/12
GMC Yukon 10/13/12
Chevrolet Tahoe 10/13/12

I just don't think I believe that. Where did this info come from?..The chevy owners I know (ok, that's not many) tell me that they are getting upwards of 18 mpg. That is on a Z-71 extended cab with 5.3 auto. Very comparable to my former truck, F150 5.4 SC 4x4 auto which only got 14 mpg.

Chevy has been getting alot better mileage than Ford according to chevy owners that I know.

Still have a hard time believing it though.

RebelYell,

I agree with your statement. I am a former Chevy owner. I did not get 18 mpg, but I could definitely get 16-17 for sure.

I am not totally confident in what they said in that article but who knows?????

I went on Chevy's web site and looked up the specs on the fuel economy for there 5.3L engine and they state that it gets 15/19 MPG for the Silverado 1500 2WD. So I agree I don't know where they got these numbers

Silverado 1500 2WD Vortec 5300 V8
4-speed auto.
15/19

Silverado 1500 4x4 Vortec 5300 V8
4-speed auto.
14/18

I also checked on the Avalanche and it has worse gas mileage than the Ford 5.4 on the SCREW but not much worse...

Drive City/Highway
4x4 13/17
2WD 14/18

If I was GM I would be really pissed off at MSN if this information is truley skewed. I am a Ford fan but I hate to see false information about anything, even a compeitors product.

MSN claims it is from the EPA. That doesn't tell us whether it is the actual numbers on the sticker or not, but apparently not based on what Chevy states on their website. I'd be curious to know where they came from too.

Well, MSN is the "MicroSoft Network"....so, I guess I will have to inform my chevy owning acquaintances that Bill has decided that their fuel mileage should be terrible. And, as we all know, if Bill says something is so, then it is so.

I wish Bill would decide that all f-150's should have lightning drivetrains. Then I would suddenly have an incredibly fast 4x4!

From MSN
They are the ones citing the source as EPA, here's the link

http://autos.msn.com/advice/windowsh...Home&pos=Edit2

These are the numbers that are posted on stickers of new vehicles on the lot, NOT actual mileage, depending on mods, driving habits, terrain etc actual mileage may vary!!

familyman....

When I click on the link I get this message "Sorry, the page you're trying to reach is temporarily unavailable or the page may no longer exist".

I guess that Bill doesn't want me to see it.

Who read the last part...

" The ratings for the Sierra 1500 and the Silverado 1500 are based on burning E85 rather than gasoline, and the estimates improve considerably to 15 mpg combined and 17 mpg highway when gasoline is used. "

Try it now RebelYell, they moved it for some reason???

DCovell, it's like made out of corn or something, on Fords the ones you see with the little green leaf next to the emblem means it can run on alternate fuels.

Here's a link to the E85 siteE85
