Undercover Tonneau Revisited

I know there has been a lot of discussion about tonneaus, but I'm wondering how these covers have been holding up.

Are you guys who got them still happy with them?

Did anyone get theirs painted?

I've decided to get one, but i just want to make sure that nothing has gone wrong. I don't want to order it and the next day see a thread with a bunch of people saying how they hate theirs.

Thanks for the help.

I second the motion.

You guys may start to hate me. I purchased my Screw in April 00, and have recently changed jobs. I was told to price some Explorers for my Co. car. As it turns out, I can get a Brand new Screw for way less than a XLT V8 Explorer. I'll present my case tomorrow.
As for the Tonneaus, I wouldn't mind some help with some product input. What's working and what's crap.

Thanks a bunch guys.

I have had my Undercover on for about 3 months now and still like it better than anything else that I have seen on trucks around here.It has done a very good job for me and you can't beat the price and how easy it is to take on and off.

I bought my Undercover in July and have been very happy with it so far. The only problem that I had was that one of the brackets came loose and the lock would not latch. I loosened and repositioned the bracket in about 5 minutes and the problem was solved.

Did you guys have those painted, or did you leave them stock? Does the stock color look similar to the bed caps? Lastly does anyone know if you can get them here in So. Cal.

Thanks.

Thanks for the replys.

I really like the cover, especially the fact that it's so easy to remove.

I'm happy to hear that you're all still happy with them.

Woody24 here's the link to the dealers

Thanks for the link, bdmofo. I contacted undercover and talked to Ray. He told me that they have reshaped the front of the cover to match our trucks better. The new shape should be finished at any time. The old shape had a straight accross look to it. We shall see.

Woddy24,

I talked to Ray today and he said that the new version is already being sent to the dealers. You just have to make sure that what they have is the new ones and that they don't have any of the old stock.

That's a good point, but they won't be getting any cash until I inspect the final product. I've talked to the dealer, that's "close" to me, and he said he would be ordering one soon. Close is about 2 1/2 hours away
Did you buy one of the older ones or did you order the new design?

Blackson,
I was given a price of $675 installed. I also priced a Snugtop for close to that price. The weight on the Undercover, as I understand it, is alot less than the fiberglass. I need to be able to lock up the bed area, so the soft Tonneau's are out of the picture. Don't know if this helped answer your question.

woody24,

I called on friday and my local place only had the old version, so i'm waiting for them to do their next order. They say that they have a bunch in stock for all diff trucks, but i've never seen one on a truck in my area. What sucks is that there is only one company(with 3 stores) that carry it, so much for competition.
I got the same price as woody24 when i called my dealer.

The undercover only weighs 55 lbs. instead of about 150 for a fiberglass one. Their site shows a hockey team on the top of the cover, so it's sturdy. Ray (the owner) told me that when it's snows, i can jump on top of it and shovel it off.

The two locks have spring caps on them to keep out dirt and ice. It also comes with a hanger to put the cover on the wall when it's not on the truck.

Now i just have to sell my Ford snapless, lol.
