K&N Air Filter Question
I just picked up a K&N air filter for my 03 Screw yesterday. I opened it up today and noticed there was no installation instructions with it. That's OK I know how to put it in but here is my question.
My buddy has got an 01 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 V8 and the K&N drop in. He did get install instructions with his K&N upon purchase. He mentioned to me that on the Chevy, the K&N came with some sort of 'gasket' with an adhesive that was mounted on the inside of the airbox to to help keep out unwanted particles, dirt, etc.
Since the K&N for my Ford did not come with instructions, I was wondering.... Is the Ford supposed to come with a gasket? Or is it simply just drop it in and go! I just want to make sure before I go ahead and replace the stock air filter.
Thanks in advance,
Jim

Not sure in the 03 - but all the K&N filters I have had just drop in. The instructions just tell you how to clean it. I have had 5 different vehicles with K&N and all have been drop in...Hope that helps...
The Ford owners do just fine without instructions, they only add them for GM owners so they know where the filter is located, don't want them installing it in the spare tire area...hmmm, or should they

How right you are my friend. Although those chebbies do have some *****! And more HP than the Ford. It's too bad the re-designed 2003 Silverado's are soooo ugly though. Have you seen the stupid commercial with the horses? Or better yet the one with the cows?
Anyhoo, Im still glad I purchased my Supercrew. Its a great truck and I hope to have it for many years to come.

Jag my friend, you hit the nail right on the head. Those new chevy's are awful looking in the front and the back. Do y'all see a resemblence of the Avalanche in the new Silverado's body shape wise? I'm still convinced that the Ford is the best looking truck, by far, and thats not just b/c I own a Screw.
