wish I had the 5.4

My 2002 supercrew has the 4.6 liter not the 5.4. wiTH THE PRICE OF TUITION IT WAS DIFFICULT TO COME UP WITH THE EXTRA MONEY FOR THE 5.4. I almost don't feel like a real supercrew, I'll get over it. The real question is what mods can I make to the engine to give me some increased horsepower. I want more power as do all us truck guys. Please let me have the info.
All opinions appreciated

Most bang for the buck is (in order and my opinion)
1. Air filter replacement/FIPK
2. Cat-back
3. Chip (superchip but you would have to run 91+ octane)

You should notice the diffrence on all of these mods and they wont set you back that much.

Me too....

My next Ford truck will have nothing smaller than the 5.4L. But, like you and I both had to start out somewhere. On the other hand, I was not fortunate enough to drive a supercrew while in school. I did manage to buy my truck thought at the age of 20.

The 5.4L is unreal...always knew it was a great truck/work motor but it really hit home the other night. Dad was on his last night of his leased 2000 F150 5.4L 3.73 rear end. I took it out for one last ride and boy would that thing haul. Over the past 3 years of driving the truck I never really put it to the test of "flooring" on a take off. I did and those tires just let out a deep howl and the ole smoke was rolling for what seemed liked forever ! I ende up with a big smile and jealous that I have the punny 4.6L, oh well I cant have it all

I am in school now, but for the last two years I was working for Worldcom, but because of those shady SOB's I am out of work. Luckily while I was there I saved a good deal of money which allowed me to buy the truck. I worked hard for it, but to be back in school and working is even harder. But back to my truck what brand intake would you suggest, i here so many different opinions.

Does anyone have plans for a subenclosure behind the rear seats of the supercrew? Greatly appreciated.

Thumbs up MAGNAFLOW CAT BACK

I have the Magna flow cat back on my 5.4 crew and the difference in power is like night and day.More power and not too loud.

Most of the things that are available to do such as FIPK, cat-back systems etc will probably give you horsepower increases you could see with a dyno-test but I believe the power gains are at wide open throttle and who has the gas bucks or wants to punish their motor enough to notice that? We do those mods because it's what we do. (My wife wanted to know why I'd take off a perfectly good exhaust system and replace it with another......duh, if you have to ask you won't understand the answer)
In my opinion, if you want a real seat of the pants feeling of power, get rid of the 3:55 rear end and put in a 4:10. The cost will be less than lots of mods and it'll scoot ya off the line and snap your head back. Also better for towing but terrible for gas mileage.
IMHO those that say they get huge power increases from a FIPK or catback gotta be sniffin too much exhaust.
