How To Remove The Door Panels - Rattle Fix

I've noticed a very annoying rattle coming from the passenger side door and was curious to see who had removed the door panel.

I haven't even looked at it as of yet but, does anyone have any suggestions or comments? Anything that I should be aware of or pay special attention to?

I'll probably take it off this weekend to see if I can isolate the rattle. Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks.

I had that last weekend and it turned out that it was just the screws at the bottom of the panel were a little loose. No rattles now. I was anticipating more work but got lucky!

Hope that's all yours is too!

The doors are so easy to remove an engineer couldn't have designed it. 1 Two screws at bottom of door,2 pop window and lock panel of armrest, one screw, remove cover from behind door latch I believe one screw there. lift up and pull out that should do it. Its been awhile since I changed speakers in door I hope I didn't forget anything

I have taken mine almost entirely apart. Are you just referring to the plastic panel? There are a number of screws that are somewhat difficult to locate that you must take off to remove it. There are two or three (depending on front or rear) phillips head screws along the bottom of the plastic door piece that are visible if you get down and look (black heads). You must pop the window/lock switch out and unplug the harnesses from it. You will see a hex (6 or 7mm I believe) head screw in the upper corner closest to the armrest handle that must be removed. You must also pop the door latch handle cover out. Take a flat head screwdriver and slide into the slot facing the front of the truck of the handle backplate and pop it out of its clasps. Then just pull it off of the handle. There is another phillips head screw behind it that must come off. Now you can lift the plastic door panel up over the lock and over the window ledge and get behind it to unplug the courtesy lamp in the door panel. That is all for removing the panel.

If you are removing the rear door panel, however, it is a little different. The little tan plastic piece above the door panel to the rear of the door pops off and reveals a phillips head screw that also comes off before the panel will come off. Other than that it is much the same.

Rock,

Go to section 501-05 of the Ford service CD you've got dude, it'll walk you through each and every step of the procedure. Man, you ever looked at the CD? It's got almost every thing you could imagine for all 2001 Ford trucks, not just the F150. Don't forget to select the truck model in the first screen, otherwise you'll be looking at vans or F700s and get lost quickly.

Let me know if you need me to help you with the CD. I'll take a donut please, plus a dozen you already owe me for allowing the Wildcats to lose to the G A M E C O C K S, hehehe.

Mine Also had loose screws

I just fixed mine today! lower screw toward rear of the front door was almost out. I tighten up all of them and then did a brief once over of any visible screws. My new FX4 is the least well built of the last three I have had. Driver door Lock plunger does not line up well. It has a slight tilt when up. Rear Pass door black trim along the window is popped up in the middle. Several loose screws.

Just seems as if it was slapped together rather than Crafted Ford Tough like the other two were.

Hey Rock Pick what kind of CD is being reffered to? Is it available to the public? I would like to have one. I always like to purchase a service manual but would prefer a CD if it is available.
